AI Doesn’t Want Your Job—Unless You Work a Desk

Microsoft researchers have released a list of jobs most and least likely to be replaced by AI, showing that roles involving writing, teaching, and advising are at higher risk. Meanwhile, manual and lower-paying jobs like dishwashers and roofers are among the least likely to be automated. The company cautioned that AI still can't perform all tasks within a job, and hallucinations remain a challenge.

According to the analysis, jobs most likely to be replaced include translators, historians, sales reps, writers, authors, and customer service reps. Jobs that are the safest from AI automation, in contrast, include heavy machinery and motorboat operators, housekeepers, roofers, massage therapists, and dishwashers.

Experts emphasize that while AI will reshape work, it’s unlikely to fully replace most human roles anytime soon.
