Unlocking VMware: Fusion and Workstation Go Free for All
VMware has made its Fusion and Workstation software free for all users, including commercial customers, but discontinued their Pro versions for purchase. Following Broadcom's acquisition of VMware, the company shifted focus toward subscription services, leading to complaints from business customers about price increases of up to 175 percent.

VMware made its Fusion and Workstation software that creates and manages virtual machines free for personal use earlier this year. Now, the company announced that as of Monday, it’s free for everyone, including commercial customers. Also, the Fusion (for Macs) and Workstation (for Windows and Linux) Pro versions are no longer available for purchase.
VMware's perpetual licenses for standalone offerings have also been phased out, pushing enterprises toward bundled cloud solutions.
